Summer Naples Art Events: Artists in the Garden

naples art events

Naples, Florida is home to a plethora of art museums, studios, and galleries. Renowned across the state of Florida and around the world as a center of fine arts, the city of Naples hosts many art events each year. Though things tend to slow down during the summer months, artists from the local community continue to create and their work remains on display.

This summer, from July 2 through September 6, 2021, residents and visitors to Naples can visit Kapnick Hall in the Naples Botanical Garden for Artists in Bloom, an event organized in partnership with the United Arts Council of Collier County.

“Artists in Bloom takes an intimate peek into the relationship between the artist and the Garden as its muse, featuring an exciting selection of works that reflect the essence and spirit of the Naples Botanical Garden.”

~ ARTISTS IN BLOOM

The Artists in Bloom event is open to Garden visitors—the exhibition is included with Garden admission. The event appeals to garden lovers who seek to discover the beauty of the Garden in person and from the perspectives of several fine artists from the area; and it appeals to art lovers, too, who seek to unearth greater insight about how the Garden lends inspiration to the creatives who interpret it in their work. If you are interested in seeing the exhibition, head to Naples Botanical Garden at 4820 Bayshore Drive in Naples.

Lauren Amalia Redding, artist and co-founder of H&R Studio, was asked to be the guest juror for the Artists in Bloom exhibition. Ms. Redding selected 31 original works from 100+ submissions put forward by various artists from across Southwest Florida. These 31 works are on display at the Garden for the duration of the Artists in Bloom event and are available for purchase. (A portion of proceeds from the sale of the pieces will benefit both the Naples Botanical Garden and United Arts Council of Collier County.)

Several of the works on display as part of the Artists in Bloom exhibition were created by member artists of the Naples Art District. When you visit, look for pieces by Gary Day, Tara Funk Grim, and Patrice Shelkun.

The Naples Art District boasts the largest concentration of working artists in Southwest Florida. The unique coalition of over 70 visual artists with studios and galleries in the District hosts live events throughout the year to expose the community to the fine arts. The Naples Art District (NAD) gives professional artists a place to share their talents with art lovers from the local community and visitors from around the world. The member artists of the District create using a wide variety of mediums and methods, from painting, photography, and sculpture to woodworking, jewelry making, and fiber arts, and so much more! NAD has a calendar of Naples art events, art shows, artists workshops, and art classes, available online for anyone who wants to explore the fine arts in greater depth. Reach out to the organization at any time for more information. The District, located north of Pine Ridge Road and west of Airport Road, is open to the public.
