With over 20 years of collecting and exhibiting art, the Baker Museum (once known as the Naples Museum of Art) is dedicated to cultivating the fine arts through stewardship and preservation, as well as inquiry and analysis. The Baker Museum also seeks out and hosts various traveling exhibitions from other well-known arts institutions around the world.
Part of the Artis-Naples campus, the three-story museum consists of 15 different galleries which house installations of artworks that comprise its permanent collection. The Baker Museum’s permanent collection is made up of over 4,000 objects of art from the 20th and 21st century, including several from American and Mexican modern art. The museum continues to grow its collection via donations and museum purchases.
The Baker Museum is one of many treasured locations that suffered damage from Hurricane Irma, which hit Naples in September 2017. The museum closed at that time to repair the significant water damage to the building, finally reopening in December 2019. During this time, an expansion was also planned; the additional square footage was opened in the fall of 2020, with additional space for permanent collection installations, as well as new spaces for community arts education and other events.
The Baker Museum’s open hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from noon to 4 pm; the museum is closed on Mondays and holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Tickets for adults cost $10 each, though tickets for full-time students (with student ID) and active duty military (with military ID) cost $5 each; Children aged 17 and under can enter the museum for free.
