3 New Art Trends for 2023

art trends 2023

The art world evolves, changing in response to the world around us. But just as art changes in response to human society and global events, so, too, does art impact the world. The start of the new year is always when art trendsetters make their forecasts of what’s going to stand out in the world in the coming year. As 2023 begins, there are art trends already emerging, moving artists and the art world forward. Here are three art trends on the horizon for 2023.

#1 URBAN STREET ART

Urban street art is a 2023 trend in the world of art. This style of art basically began as graffiti, but has continued to grow in popularity and acceptance in mainstream art circles over the years. Urban street art is accessible and relatable, with artists from Basquiat to Banksy drawing crowds and keeping the spotlight on the street art movement.

#2 VIRTUAL ART

As technology has developed, it has transformed many artists and artworks into a virtual experience. Virtual art provides greater engagement via technology, allowing the consumer to connect with each piece at a deeper level. One of the most up-and-coming virtual art styles of 2023 is AI-generated art, which is becoming more accessible because of interactive art installations and immersive art exhibitions.

#3 PASTEL ART INSPIRATION IN HOME DECOR

Another new art trend in 2023 is the return of pastels in artworks. “Soothing Pastels are the neutrals of the future, exhibiting a lighter side of things through a relaxing yet thoroughly energizing shade selection within the art world,” according to Eden Gallery. BONUS: Pastels are likely to continue being used in home decor, according to many in the interior design and decor world where art and design meet. The comeback of pastel hues in home decor began a few years ago and has picked up in popularity, adding a subtler glowing neutrality to most spaces, from blushing pinks to nature-inspired blues and greens.
