Festival in Naples, FL

Naples, Florida communities continue to recover in the wake of Hurricane Ian. As residents carry on with debris clean-up, the city is coming back to life and things are starting to reopen again. If you are looking for a way to rise above the still-muddled state of things, consider experiencing the ¡ARTEVIVA! Festival in Naples during this last week of October 2022.

The Paradise Coast presents ¡ARTEVIVA!, a year-long celebration of the unique cultural and artistic contributions of Hispanic artists. The festival, which includes a variety of events and exhibits, kicked off in Naples in September and will continue through June 2023. The extended calendar of the ¡ARTEVIVA! LA CALAVERA CATRINA

Mexican-born artist Ricardo Soltero (delayed due to Hurricane Ian) brings his vision of Mexico’s iconic Día de los Muertos celebration to the Naples Botanical Garden. The exhibit features eight large sculptures of La Catrina, the female skeleton figure wearing a fancy hat with feathers and flowers that is central to celebrations of Día de los Muertos, which translates in English to Day of the Dead. The exhibit also includes a large ofrenda, or altar, where offerings are placed in memory of deceased family members.

26 MILES

October 13 – 30, 2022

The Gulfshore Playhouse presents 26 MILES, a play by Puerto Rican playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes. 26 MILES is a coming-of-age story from the Pulitzer prize and Tony-nominated playwright, about a mother and her estranged teen-aged daughter who go on an impromptu road trip and save their relationship as they rediscover what it means to love and understand each other.
