1975-2020: Art, Chaos, and Complexity
I make art out of curiosity. What happens when seemingly unrelated images are layered? When
does an imaging process begin to devolve into chaos? How does visual information become
knowledge? As the visual world becomes more digital I discover more questions.
My work lies at the intersections of visual art and digital technology. My formal training was in
printmaking. For the last 45 years I have continued to combine traditional print mediums with digital
means of production. Today my etching and lithography presses have been replaced by a large
format digital archival pigment printer. My primary drawing tools are 3D animation and game
development programs. These softwares allow me to create images by simulating chaos and also
use artificial intelligence as a drawing tool.
