His paintings were sold in a gallery to a number of collectors in Dallas while he trained in surgery and lived there.

He has been juried into a number of shows including the prestigious Birds in Art Competition, the California Art Club, LPAPA and he is a signature member of the Montana Watercolor Society His paintings can be seen at

His painting style verges on impressionism with a loose brush stroke and limited underpainting. This allows subtle colors and harmony that appeals to the viewer. This style derived from his years plein air painting. He concentrates on landscapes, seascapes, and vignettes.

Stephen also sculpts and taught a sculpture course for over 10 years for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. His sculpture has been featured on magazine covers and in the Rosicrucian Museum in San Jose, CA.

At present he is Chairman and Professor Emeritus of Surgery, Stanford University Medical Center and painting more than ever.
