About The Artist

After retiring from forty five years in advertising and marketing services Gordon picked up his paint brush and began painting as a recreation attending painting workshops and classes in the U.S and Europe. His painting career was kick started after a business associate bought a busy street scene watercolor and suggested that he start selling paintings. This led to successful shows and festivals and membership in several Chicago, midwest area and New York art associations and galleries where he taught watercolors, and conducted workshops and critiques.

Gordon works in watercolor, acrylic and oil. His early painting were of exactly what he saw but he became influenced by impressionism that concentrated more on interpretation and suggestion rather than detailed realism. His favorite subjects are city and waterscapes, urban activity and sports where he captures motion and activity with gestural brush strokes suggesting a shape or form allowing the viewer to participate and interpret the painting.

Gordon and his wife Jacqueline frequently travel to Italy to paint at their favorite landscape workshop in Tuscany. And since spending the winter in Naples the occasional beach or palm treed golf course scene shows up in his collection.
