About The Artist
I spent the early part of my creative career sculpting in stone. The midlife shift to mythological images formed as masks allowed me to explore new mediums, Kozo fibre gave my masks an ethereal lightness while the ceramic masks with encaustic surface created a commanding strength.
In the past few years, I moved onto working with silk, using dye processes shibori and rozome I got to know dye color and it’s effect on silk. In an effort to improve the results of the dyeing I developed a silk painting technique that enhanced the dyed pieces.
These dye methods lead me into further exploration which brought me to painting with botanicals, my current creative love. Plants have so much to give, as I am getting to know them and learning how to release their colors, I create beautiful one-of-a-kind silk scarves. Sadly, photos don’t do them justice…the intricate patterns along with gentle colors created by selective plants is magical.
I invite you to come and see the finished silk pieces and experience Mother Nature at her best!
Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder. E.B. White
